Pope Leo, the Vatican Pope, urged the authorities in Iran and Israel on Saturday, June 14, to "appeal to reason" after the recent airstrikes and called for dialogue.
During a meeting at St. Peter's Cathedral, he said he is closely following the developments "with great concern."
He added: "At this critical stage, I wish to renew the call for responsibility and appealing to reason."
The Pope continued: "Commitment to building a safer world free from nuclear threat should be pursued through mutual respect and sincere dialogue, in order to establish a lasting peace based on justice, brotherhood, and the common good."
He further added: "No one should ever threaten the existence of another. It is the duty of all countries to support the cause of peace by launching reconciliation pathways and enhancing solutions that ensure security and dignity for all."
