UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen said during a session of the UN Security Council on Syria today, Thursday, that Syria is experiencing a state of calm, welcoming the formation of a committee to monitor the ceasefire agreement in Sweida.
Pedersen added: "We are closely monitoring the situation in Sweida and urging all parties to remove all causes of escalation and ensure the delivery of aid, and it is essential to engage in a peaceful transition process that guarantees Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity."
Pedersen also condemned the Israeli violations of Syria's sovereignty, emphasizing the need to respect Syria's sovereignty, safety, and territorial unity.
