Cameras captured a controversial moment between Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique and Chelsea striker Joao Pedro in a chaotic scene following Chelsea's Club World Cup victory. Enrique was seen delivering a direct slap to the Brazilian player during the celebrations after the match.
The incident occurred after the final whistle, as Chelsea players were celebrating their historic 3-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the first edition of the Club World Cup with the new format featuring 32 teams. Kai Havertz scored two goals and Joao Pedro added the third goal in a perfect first half for the Blues under coach Enzo Marisca.
Tensions escalated when Pedro provocatively approached Enrique and PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, prompting the PSG coach to respond aggressively. Enrique grabbed the player's face twice before the situation escalated to a slap that brought Pedro to the ground.
Security forces quickly intervened, removing Enrique from the scene with the help of injured PSG defender Presnel Kimpembe. Meanwhile, Chelsea coach Enzo Marisca was seen having a side conversation with Donnarumma, apparently to calm the situation.
The match itself was not without tension, as PSG player Joao Neviz was sent off for assaulting Chelsea's Mark Cockoria by pulling his hair.
The incident sparked widespread debate on social media and in the media, with Chelsea fans calling for Enrique's punishment, while no official statement has been issued by the Parisian club at the time of preparing this news.
