In the context of the diplomatic openness shown by the West towards Syria post the fall of the Assad regime, France and the United States have called for enhancing bilateral coordination regarding developments in the Syrian file. This was emphasized during a phone call between the French Foreign Minister, Jean-Yves Le Drian, and his American counterpart, Mark Rubio. According to a statement from the French Foreign Ministry, both sides stressed the importance of joint efforts to ensure stability in Syria, address its security and humanitarian challenges, including coordinating positions on Iran's role and increasing influence in the region. They also reiterated their commitment to preventing Iran from developing or possessing nuclear weapons. Minister Le Drian highlighted the necessity of Franco-American cooperation concerning the situations in both Syria and Lebanon, noting that the current regional circumstances require intensified diplomatic efforts between the two countries.
