Officials and diplomats in the European Union said today, Friday, that the bloc and the United States may reach a framework agreement on trade this week, ending months of uncertainty for the European industry.
Sources added that the agreement is likely to include imposing a basic customs duty of 15% on all European Union goods entering the United States, and may include a 50% customs duty on steel and aluminum.
U.S. President Donald Trump said on Friday that the chances of the United States reaching a trade deal with the European Union are 50%, or perhaps less, saying that Brussels is "eager to make a deal".
