Official launch of 5G services in Egypt starting from May 2025.

Sources from within mobile companies in Egypt have stated that the countdown has begun for the official launch of 5G services, following the successful completion of technical tests for service operation. According to revealed information, the current month of May will witness the initial actual launch of 5G in several Egyptian governorates, paving the way for gradual expansion of coverage to other parts of the country. The service will be launched gradually, with companies starting to select priority areas based on commercial viability, leading to broader coverage including all governorates in later stages. This move comes after the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Dr. Amr Talaat, announced in previous statements during March that the four mobile companies in Egypt will start offering 5G services in the first half of 2025. The step aims to enhance the quality of telecommunication services and accelerate the digital transformation in various sectors. 5G technology will provide users with ultra-fast internet speeds and low latency, opening the door to improving daily user experience and supporting advanced applications such as artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, and smart city infrastructure. It is worth mentioning that Vodafone, Orange, and Etisalat obtained licenses to operate 5G in October last year, while WE received the license in January 2024, completing the new generation of communication systems in Egypt.
