Syrian Team Achieves New Milestone at the International Physics Olympiad in Paris

The Syrian national team for the Scientific Olympiad added a new achievement to its international record by having four of its students receive certificates of appreciation at the 2025 International Physics Olympiad, which concluded in the French capital, Paris, on July 25th, with the participation of a select group of distinguished students representing more than 80 countries.
According to a statement issued by the Syrian Excellence and Creativity Authority, the honored students include Ali Shemis from Latakia, Abdul Hadi Shamasan from Damascus, Kareem Abu Said from As-Suwayda, and Haya Hawwat from Homs, under the scientific supervision of Dr. Aqeel Saloum and Dr. Hamoud Al-Arabi.
It is worth mentioning that this accolade comes in the context of the achievements made by the Syrian team during the current month of July, as they had previously won four bronze medals and a certificate of appreciation at the International Mathematical Olympiad in Australia. They also achieved four more medals at the International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO 2025) in the UAE, including one silver and three bronze medals.
These successive results highlight the advanced scientific level that Syrian students possess in the fields of physics, mathematics, and chemistry. They also affirm the ability of Syrian youth to compete internationally and raise Syria's name high in the most prominent global scientific forums.
