Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu inspected the damage caused by an Iranian missile strike targeting the vicinity of the Weizmann Institute in Rehovot near Tel Aviv yesterday, confirming that Iran targets civilians while Israel only focuses its strikes on nuclear and military facilities.
Netanyahu said during his visit to the site of the incident: "We will not allow the Iranian regime to possess nuclear weapons, and our goal is to destroy its nuclear program. Iran possesses 28,000 missiles and seeks to develop nuclear bombs, and we have the ability to confront it."
In his remarks about U.S. support, Netanyahu praised President Donald Trump and described him as a great leader, noting that Trump makes his decisions himself and thanking him for supporting Israel.
In turn, the White House announced that Trump will decide in the next two weeks whether the United States will intervene in the Israeli-Iranian conflict, expressing hope for a diplomatic solution, but emphasizing that preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons is the top priority.
This escalation comes amid exchanges of attacks between Israel and Iran, where Israel began targeting Iranian sites it said were related to the nuclear program, resulting in the killing of several military and Iranian scientists. In response, Iran launched missiles and drones targeting Israel, causing 24 civilian casualties and extensive damage, including a hospital in Beersheba.
