The Israeli army announced on Friday morning that it has completed the "first stage" of a wide attack on Iran, targeting dozens of military and nuclear sites across the country.
A statement by the army mentioned that dozens of fighter jets carried out raids on strategic targets including uranium enrichment facilities and ballistic missile factories.
An Israeli military source indicated that the strikes carried out early Friday included nuclear facilities and multiple military sites without disclosing details, confirming that Israel believes Tehran has the capability to launch an immediate attack against it at any moment.
He added that Iran has enough material to make 15 nuclear bombs within a few days.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed in a recorded message that the airstrikes targeted the "heart" of the Iranian nuclear program in Natanz, in addition to missile development centers and scientists working on the nuclear bomb, stating that the operation will continue "as long as necessary."
In other statements, an Israeli military official suggested the killing of several senior Iranian military leaders, including the Chief of Staff, as well as senior nuclear scientists. However, the official Iranian news agency denied the death of Chief of Staff Baqeri, confirming his presence in the operations command room.
The strikes came after hearing explosions in various parts of Tehran, amid Israel declaring a state of emergency in anticipation of a possible Iranian attack with missiles and drones.
