Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu affirmed today, Sunday, his government's commitment to its goals regarding the return of hostages and the elimination of the Hamas threat.

Prior to his departure to the US capital, Washington, to meet with US President Donald Trump, Netanyahu clarified that the Israeli negotiating delegation in the ceasefire talks carries "clear instructions" to achieve an agreement based on the conditions agreed upon by Israel, indicating that his government has sent the delegation to achieve these goals.

He added before his upcoming meeting at the White House: "I believe that the discussion with Trump can certainly contribute to achieving these results".

He also emphasized his government's determination to "ensure the return of all hostages to Israel, and remove the Hamas threat from the Gaza Strip", saying: "We are determined to bring back all Israeli hostages, and Hamas will have no place in Gaza in the future".

Pressure is mounting on Netanyahu to agree to a permanent ceasefire and end the war in Gaza, a step opposed by some hardline members of the ruling right-wing coalition while supported by others including Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi.
