NATO raises its military targets by 30% to counter the Russian threat.

Sources within the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) have revealed an ambitious plan to enhance the alliance's defense capabilities by 30%, as part of a deterrence strategy against ongoing threats from Russia.
The sources, briefed by the German news agency (DPA), explained that this increase includes bolstering stocks of long-range missiles and drones, as well as developing air defense and artillery systems.
Member countries are expected to adopt updated national targets during the defense ministers' meeting in Brussels on Thursday, according to the new defense planning.
However, the alliance faces significant challenges in achieving these goals, as senior military officials have indicated that member states are already "lagging by about 30% in meeting current objectives."
While precise national targets remain classified, some details are expected to be revealed after the meeting concludes.
In this context, military estimates in Germany suggest that the Bundeswehr may need to increase its troops by tens of thousands, compared to the current number of around 182,000 soldiers, in addition to significant investments in air defense systems.
