Rebellion inside Amioun Prison and Detention of Two Security Forces Members in Lebanon

Lebanese authorities have detected a rebellion inside Amioun Prison in northern Lebanon, which escalated to the detention of prisoners holding two security forces members as hostages, with threats to set fire inside the prison.

A large force from the Rapid Intervention Regiment intervened to try to open the prison doors and control the situation. The Civil Defense was asked to be on standby for any emergency. So far, the reasons that led the prisoners to rebel are unknown.
