Morocco sends a technical mission to Syria to complete the procedures for reopening its embassy in Damascus.

In line with King Mohammed VI's decision to reopen the Moroccan embassy in Damascus, a technical delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad has headed to Syria to study the practical arrangements related to this step.
The "Maghreb Arab Press Agency" reported that the delegation will hold consultations with senior officials at the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the "logistical, legal, and diplomatic aspects" of the reopening process, in line with the royal directives aiming to "revive the diplomatic relations between the two brotherly countries."
This comes after King Mohammed VI announced, during his speech at the 34th Arab Summit held in Baghdad on the 17th of this month, a decision to resume Moroccan diplomatic work in Syria, emphasizing that this step "will contribute to opening broader horizons for the historical bilateral relations between our two countries and peoples."
Morocco had closed its embassy in Damascus in 2012, and the current diplomatic return is seen as a new step to enhance cooperation between the two countries.
