In a decisive step reflecting the Ministry of Justice's direction towards reforming its institutions and enhancing principles of transparency and equal opportunities, Minister of Justice Dr. Mazhar Al-Wais issued a decision yesterday, Thursday, to permanently cancel the fourth session at the Higher Institute of Judiciary, following the disclosure of serious violations in the student admission process.
The ministry affirmed in an official statement on its Telegram platform that the decision was based on recommendations from a specialized inspection committee specifically formed to investigate the integrity of the admission procedures in the fourth session. The committee revealed unfair interventions and deliberate errors, considered characteristics of the 'obsolete system,' resulting in unjust outcomes for a significant number of applicants in favor of candidates who were accepted unfairly.
The statement added that the ministry decided to liquidate all rights due to the students enrolled in this session, confirming that what was discovered constitutes a clear violation of the principles of justice, integrity, and equality among applicants.
It is worth noting that the Minister of Justice had previously issued, on April 17, 2025, a decision to suspend teaching at the Higher Institute of Judiciary after receiving multiple complaints about irregularities and violations in selecting students for the fourth session.
These measures are part of a series of steps taken by the ministry in its efforts to restore confidence in the justice institutions and ensure the integrity of the standards adopted in qualifying judicial personnel in Syria.
