The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research held a preliminary meeting today, Monday, to develop a comprehensive national map for higher education in Syria, in line with regional, local, and demographic development priorities, as part of its plan to enhance the efficiency and role of higher education in supporting comprehensive national development.

During the meeting, with the participation of the assistants to the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Abeer Qudsi, Dr. Mohammad Swayed, Dr. Gaith Warqouzq, and a number of experts specialized in regional and population planning, the current educational map of higher education institutions in Syria was evaluated, along with discussing the challenges they face, as well as analyzing their compatibility with the demographic reality and development in various Syrian regions.

Discussions also focused on ways to develop a unified and fair vision for specializations and academic programs, taking into account geographic distribution, labor market needs, and demographic data for each region, aiming to achieve developmental balance among provinces and ensure equal educational opportunities for students across the country.

Participants emphasized the importance of the meeting as a first step towards establishing an integrated strategic framework that enhances the efficiency of the higher education system and elevates its role in supporting comprehensive national development.
