Ministry of Emergency: Extinguishing Over 60 Fires in 48 Hours in Various Areas of Syria

Al-Saleh stated in a post on the "X" platform today, Thursday: "Firefighting teams in the civil defense and other teams responded to over 60 fires in the past 48 hours, and operations are still ongoing to control the two largest fires that broke out in the village of Qatilbiyah in rural Latakia and the village of Azar in western rural Idlib."
Al-Saleh explained that the teams are facing challenges due to rugged terrain, high temperatures, the presence of war remnants, the absence of fire lines, and paved roads, hindering the isolation and control process.
Al-Saleh emphasized that the Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management has developed a proactive plan to deal with fires, to ensure a rapid and effective response to these fires, and to reduce their risks and impacts on vegetation.
He also stressed the importance of refraining from lighting fires near agricultural fields or wooded areas, only lighting fires in designated places during picnics, ensuring they are completely extinguished after use, avoiding burning dry grass around homes or on road edges and safely removing them, not throwing cigarette butts or glass bottles near dry grass, especially in wooded and agricultural areas, and immediately reporting any fire.
