Minister of Interior Anas Khatib affirmed today, Thursday, that lifting sanctions on Syria directly contributes to strengthening regional and international cooperation, developing the security system, and supporting efforts to consolidate stability and enhance civil peace. Minister Khatib stated in remarks carried by the Ministry of Interior's channel on Telegram: "We congratulate the step of lifting sanctions imposed on Syria, and express our sincere gratitude to all those who contributed to this step, which opens the way for us to modernize security and service work systems, and enhance our capabilities in protecting citizens, after a period in which the defunct regime exploited sanctions to oppress the Syrian people in all aspects of their lives." The Minister added: "Lifting sanctions on Syria directly contributes to strengthening regional and international cooperation, developing the security system to combat ISIS, transnational crimes, and other surrounding threats, and supports our efforts to consolidate security and stability, and enhance civil peace in Syria and the region."
