Minister of Emergencies: Number of Agricultural and Forest Fires Reached 2054, Most of Them in Latakia
The Minister of Emergencies and Disaster Management of Syria, Raed Al-Saleh, said today, Monday, via the "X" platform, that amid harsh climatic conditions and complex geographical nature, firefighting teams in Syria continued their efforts for over three months, responding to more than 4000 fires from the beginning of April until the current July 7th, with Aleppo having the largest share followed by Latakia.

Minister Al-Saleh added: "The number of agricultural and forest fires reached 2054, with most of them in Latakia at 441 followed by Tartus with 308 agricultural and forest fires".

He continued: "The extinguishing operations required 3744 working hours, including 1400 hours in Latakia alone, reflecting the difficulty of controlling the fires in this densely forested mountainous area".

He also confirmed that since the beginning of July until today, firefighting teams responded to 334 fires, including 170 agricultural and forest fires, most of them in Latakia at 46 followed by Tartus at 26.

The Minister pointed out that firefighting teams in the civil defense and forest firefighting teams have been continuing for the fifth consecutive day to combat the forest fires in Latakia, with the participation of Turkish and Jordanian firefighting teams and aerial support from Syrian, Turkish, Jordanian, and Lebanese aircraft contributing to the extinguishing process.
