The Minister of Emergencies and Disasters, Raed Al-Saleh, discussed today, Tuesday, with the Governor of Deir ez-Zor, Mr. Ghassan Al-Sayyid Ahmad, ways to improve the economic and field service reality, and the province's needs related to the ministry's work.

The meeting addressed the expedited rehabilitation of destroyed bridges and the removal of rubble from residential neighborhoods destroyed by the former Assad regime over 14 years to facilitate the return of displaced residents.

The two sides also discussed the issue of mines and their danger to civilians and the need to remove them as quickly as possible.

SANA quoted Minister Al-Saleh as saying during his visit to the devastated neighborhoods within the city: "The main goal of the visit is to establish directorates affiliated with the Ministry of Emergencies and Disasters in the cities of Mayadin and Al-Bukamal, which will have a positive impact on the province, especially in terms of providing job opportunities for its residents and improving the service and economic reality in it."

Deir ez-Zor province is considered one of the devastated provinces, with a destruction rate exceeding 80%, due to the former Assad regime's adoption of a scorched earth policy during the years of the Syrian revolution, leading to significant damage to residential buildings and infrastructure.
