A meeting to promote civil peace in Syria under presidential directives.
The Minister of Interior in the Syrian caretaker government, Anas Khatib, held an extensive meeting with the governors of the provinces to discuss ways to enhance civil peace in various regions of the country, in compliance with the directives of President Ahmed Sharaa.
The Syrian news agency "SANA" quoted Minister Khatib as emphasizing that "consolidating civil peace is fundamental in achieving societal stability and is an urgent necessity to support building and development efforts in the upcoming phase."
This meeting comes within the framework of following up on the presidential decree issued on the ninth of last month, forming a "Supreme Committee for Civil Peace" aimed at enhancing social cohesion among the components of the Syrian people, in line with the highest national interest.
According to the presidential statement, the committee will undertake several key tasks, including "direct communication with citizens in the Syrian coast to listen to their demands and provide necessary support to enhance their security and stability," as well as "strengthening national unity amid the delicate circumstances the country is going through."
The official lineup of the committee includes: Anas Ayrout, Hassan Soufan, and Khaled Al-Ahmad, who have been tasked with establishing work mechanisms and monitoring the implementation of measures to achieve the committee's objectives.
