Marrakech witnesses the return of Syria, Libya, and Mauritania to membership in "Aman" in an extraordinary session.

Fouad Aref, the Director General of the Maghreb Arab Press Agency and President of the Association of Mediterranean News Agencies (AMAN), announced the return of Syria, Libya, and Mauritania to the membership of the association during the opening of the thirty-third General Assembly session of the organization in the Moroccan city of Marrakech.
Aref stated that this step represents a significant boost to the media cooperation among Mediterranean countries, noting that the current session, held under the theme "Football and Media in the Mediterranean Region... Building Bridges Beyond Borders," witnesses a record participation from member agency representatives.
He added that the theme of the session reflects the association's direction towards enhancing integration among member news agencies by expanding news content exchange, developing joint training programs, and establishing specialized mechanisms to verify news accuracy and combat media misinformation.
The General Assembly events, which continue until tomorrow, Thursday, include dialogues discussing the relationship between media and sports, signing cooperation agreements between member agencies, and a ceremony to award the "AMAN" honorary prizes for the best journalistic works of the year.
It is worth mentioning that the "AMAN" Association was established in 1991 as a regional organization aiming to enhance media cooperation among official news agencies in Mediterranean basin countries through exchanging experiences, developing capabilities, and combating fake news.
