Lebanon's Mufti, Sheikh Abdul Latif Derian, received a call from the Army Commander, General Rudolf Hekmat.
The media office at Dar Al-Fatwa stated that the discussion covered Lebanese affairs and the role the army plays in preserving the security and safety of Lebanon and the Lebanese people. Derian praised the army's performance in fulfilling its national duty and addressing any security emergencies across the country.
The Republic's Mufti emphasized that "the unity of the Lebanese will remain resilient in any emerging crisis, fortified by their cohesion and solidarity, and will continue to be the foundation to thwart and overthrow anyone attempting to sow discord in Lebanon through various means", calling for "more national solidarity to confront these malicious intentions within the framework of the state and its legitimate institutions".
He said, "There is no alternative to the state and its authority, imposing its control and laws over all its territories. It is the umbrella for everyone and the sole guarantor of order, the rule of law, rights, freedoms, equal citizenship, and justice among all citizens".
He added, "To keep Lebanon away from what is happening in our sister Syria, they have a state capable of addressing the security situation with wise and prudent leadership. We affirm the unity of Syria in terms of land, people, and institutions, and we should not interfere in the affairs of others, nor should anyone interfere in our Lebanese affairs".
He affirmed that "Dar Al-Fatwa will not allow Lebanon to be dragged into the fire of sectarian and odious religious sedition, which is prohibited by Sharia law, and always strives for Lebanese national unity and works to prevent discord through cooperation and solidarity with the Maronite Patriarchate, the Orthodox Church, the Higher Shiite Islamic Council, the Druze Sheikhdom, and other religious and political references to prevent any unacceptable disruption".
