Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati visits Damascus to discuss the outstanding issues between the two countries.

Lebanese Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, will visit the Syrian capital, Damascus, tomorrow, Monday, April 14, accompanied by a high-level government delegation. During the visit, he is scheduled to meet with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and several officials in the Syrian government.
Mikati stated in a press release from Martyrs' Square in Beirut: "Tomorrow, I will visit Syria to meet with President Bashar al-Assad and discuss the file of Lebanese detainees in Syrian prisons, hoping that the visit will lead to positive results that alleviate the suffering of their families."
He added that "this visit is part of the government's efforts to resolve humanitarian issues between Lebanon and Syria, especially those related to forcibly disappeared persons, which have been a burden on bilateral relations."
On the other hand, the file of Lebanese detainees in Syrian prisons, according to media reports including "Lebanon Debate," is considered one of the most contentious issues that have affected Lebanese-Syrian relations for many years. The Lebanese government recently reopened it through intensive consultations with international and regional parties.
