Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Rio de Janeiro, where Lavrov reiterated Moscow's offer to provide support and assistance in resolving disputes related to the Iranian nuclear program through diplomatic channels.
A statement issued by the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that Lavrov strongly condemned the strikes carried out by Israel and the United States on Iranian nuclear energy facilities last month, including the bombing of facilities under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency, considering these actions to escalate the situation.
Lavrov emphasized the importance of reaching comprehensive solutions to all issues related to Iran's nuclear program through diplomatic dialogue, affirming Moscow's readiness to help achieve consensus-based solutions based on initiatives previously proposed by the Russian President.
Araghchi visited Moscow last month for talks amid escalating tensions that lasted about 12 days between Iran and the West.
Iran categorically denies any intention to develop nuclear weapons, while Russia asserts Tehran's right to possess a peaceful nuclear program, expressing its willingness to mediate to resolve the crisis involving Israel and the United States, and offering to store Iranian uranium to ensure stability.
This meeting comes amid escalating regional and international tensions, with Europeans continuing to warn of Iran's increasing determination to possess nuclear weapons, while Moscow remains a key player in supporting diplomatic efforts to resolve this crisis.
