The Israeli army said it launched a missile to intercept a second missile from Yemen towards Israel today, Friday, as the United States intensifies its strikes on the Houthi movement in Yemen. The Houthis claimed responsibility for launching two missiles flying north for over 2000 kilometers towards the Ramat David Israeli airbase and Tel Aviv area. According to the Israeli army, alarm systems were activated in several areas after the missile launches. There have been no reports of material or human losses. The army previously stated that it intercepted another missile launched from Yemen. The outcome of intercepting the second missile is still under review. In March, President Donald Trump ordered wide-ranging strikes on the Houthis to limit their capabilities and deter them from attacking ships in the Red Sea. These strikes, which resulted in casualties, are the largest U.S. military operation in the Middle East since Trump took office in January. The Houthis claim their attacks on Israel and targeting shipping in the Red Sea are in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza.
