King Abdullah II Reaffirms Jordan's Rejection of Settlement and the 'Greater Israel Vision'

His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan confirmed during his meeting on Monday with a delegation from the U.S. Congress, Jordan's firm rejection of the Israeli statements regarding what is known as the 'Greater Israel Vision', emphasizing that settlement and unilateral actions in the West Bank represent a 'violation of international law and a blatant infringement of the Palestinian people's right to establish their independent state'.
The American delegation included Senators Markwayne Mullin and Joni Ernst, and Representatives Jason Smith and Jimmy Panetta, where the meeting discussed regional developments, particularly in Syria, with the King emphasizing the importance of 'supporting efforts to maintain its security, stability, sovereignty, and territorial integrity'.
Regarding the Gaza Strip, the King urged the 'urgent need for an immediate ceasefire and ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid by all means', expressing Jordan's rejection of any Israeli attempts to 'entrench the occupation in Gaza or expand military control over it'.
The meeting also touched upon the U.S. role in enhancing regional stability, emphasizing the 'strength of the strategic partnership between Jordan and the United States and the pursuit to develop it'.
This comes at a time when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu continues to declare the 'Greater Israel Vision', which reveals 'expansionist ambitions that include occupied Palestinian territories, and parts of Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and Egypt', exacerbating tensions in the region.
