Gaza officials said at least 8, mostly children, were killed and more than 12 were injured in the central Gaza Strip today, Sunday, in an Israeli missile strike that the army said was due to a missile that did not reach its intended target.
The Israeli army stated that it was targeting an armed member of the 'Jihad' movement in the area, but the missile malfunctioned, causing it to fall 'tens of meters away from its target'.
In a statement, the army added: 'The Israeli army regrets any harm caused to civilians'.
A doctor in the emergency department at Al-Awda Hospital said the strike hit a water distribution site in the Nusairat camp, resulting in the death of six children and injury of 17.
