The Syrian National Dialogue Conference concluded today, Tuesday, at the People's Palace in the presence of Syrian President Ahmed Shar'a and all spectrums of Syrian society. The final statement of the conference highlighted the following key points:
- Preserving the unity of the Syrian Arab Republic and its sovereignty over all its territories, rejecting any form of fragmentation, division, or relinquishment of any part of the homeland.
- Condemning Israeli encroachment on Syrian territories as a blatant violation of Syrian sovereignty, demanding its immediate and unconditional withdrawal, rejecting provocative statements by the Israeli Prime Minister, and calling on the international community and regional organizations to fulfill their responsibilities towards the Syrian people, exert pressure to stop aggression and violations.
- Centralizing weapons under state control, establishing a professional national army, and considering any armed formations outside official institutions as unlawful groups.
- Accelerating the declaration of a temporary constitution that suits the requirements of the transitional phase, ensuring constitutional continuity to expedite the work of Syrian state institutions.
- Urgently forming a temporary legislative council to assume legislative authority tasks based on competence and fair representation.
- Establishing a constitutional committee to draft a permanent constitution for the country that balances powers, upholds values of justice, freedom, and equality, and establishes a state of law and institutions.
- Enhancing freedom as a supreme value in society, considering it a precious gain paid for by the Syrian people with their blood, ensuring freedom of opinion and expression.
- Respecting human rights, supporting women's role in all fields, protecting children's rights, caring for persons with disabilities, activating the role of youth in the state and society.
- Cementing the principle of citizenship, rejecting all forms of discrimination based on race, religion, or sect, achieving equal opportunities, away from racial and religious favoritism.
- Achieving transitional justice by holding accountable those responsible for crimes and violations, reforming the judicial system, enacting necessary legislation, and implementing suitable mechanisms to ensure justice, restore rights.
- Consolidating peaceful coexistence among all components of the Syrian people, rejecting all forms of violence, incitement, and revenge to enhance social stability and civil peace.
- Achieving political development ensuring the participation of all societal segments in political life, issuing appropriate laws, emphasizing political isolation measures based on fair criteria.
- Boosting economic development, enhancing agriculture and industry sectors through adopting stimulating economic policies, promoting growth, encouraging investment, protecting investors, meeting people's needs, and supporting the country's prosperity.
- Calling for the lifting of international sanctions imposed on Syria, which have become a direct burden on the Syrian people after the regime's fall, exacerbating their suffering, hindering reconstruction efforts, and the return of displaced persons and refugees.
- Reforming public institutions, restructuring them, initiating the digital transformation process to enhance institutional efficiency, increase effectiveness, combat corruption, administrative slackness, and review recruitment criteria based on nationalism, integrity, and competence.
- Involving civil society institutions in supporting the community, activating the role of civil associations to support governmental efforts in reconstruction, and supporting the state in ensuring an active role for civil society organizations in achieving development and stability.
- Developing the educational system, reforming curricula, implementing plans to bridge educational gaps, ensuring quality education, focusing on vocational education to create new job opportunities, linking education with technology to secure a better future for future generations.
- Promoting a culture of dialogue in Syrian society, continuing dialogues at various levels, finding appropriate mechanisms for that, committing to transparency. A detailed report will be issued by the preparatory committee presenting the contributions and opinions of the attendees at the National Dialogue Conference.
At the end of the statement, it was stated: "In commemoration of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for our freedom, and for all the wounded, detainees, missing persons, displaced persons, their families, and loved ones, and for all those who made sacrifices from the Syrian people, this statement represents a national covenant and commitment to be upheld by all active forces.
