Royal Jordanian Airlines announced today the operation of a test flight to Aleppo International Airport, as a preliminary step to resume its regular flights to Syria. This announcement comes after a 14-year hiatus, coinciding with the rehabilitation and reopening of Aleppo International Airport last week. Haitham Misto, the head of the Jordanian Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission, confirmed that the test flight aims to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the airport's security and safety, in preparation for a final decision on resuming air travel between Jordan and Syria. Misto noted that the flight will include a specialized Jordanian crew to perform the necessary technical inspections. He also mentioned that Royal Jordanian Airlines has submitted an official request to operate flights to Aleppo International Airport, as part of efforts to strengthen air links between the two countries. On the other hand, the Syrian Civil Aviation Authority announced the reopening of Aleppo International Airport to air traffic starting from March 18th, following the completion of necessary rehabilitation and maintenance work.
