In a step aimed at balancing security considerations with economic interests, the Jordanian Ministry of Interior announced a new set of decisions regulating the entry and exit of Syrian citizens to and from the kingdom, in cooperation with relevant authorities. The new decisions provide facilitations for several Syrian categories residing or wishing to enter Jordan. Professors at Jordanian universities holding Syrian nationality, as well as Syrian students studying at Jordanian universities and community colleges, are allowed to enter the kingdom without the need for prior approval, provided that their registration in Jordanian educational institutions is based on approved criteria. However, the Ministry clarified that this exception does not include Syrian students currently residing in Syria, even if they have been accepted to a university, as they must obtain prior approval. The Jordanian Interior Ministry also announced allowing all Syrian citizens holding commercial records in the kingdom, regardless of the registered capital value, to travel to and from Syria without the need for prior approval, on the condition that they possess valid Jordanian professional licenses and have no security impediments preventing their entry into Jordan. On the other hand, Syrian residents in Syria whose names are listed in Jordanian commercial records without having entered the kingdom must obtain prior approval. The previous instructions regarding the entry of investors holding investment cards from categories (A, B, C) and Syrian investors with commercial records exceeding 50,000 Jordanian Dinars continue to be in effect. Regarding real estate, Syrians owning lands or buildings in the kingdom, as well as their family members, are allowed to travel to and from Syria without prior approval, provided that the property value is not less than 50,000 Jordanian Dinars according to the Department of Lands and Survey, with the condition of having a clear security record. However, Syrians residing in Syria holding property registration documents without having entered the kingdom must also obtain prior approval. The decision also includes Syrian retirees receiving pensions from the Jordanian Social Security Corporation, allowing them to travel freely without prior approval, provided there are no security impediments. These steps reflect Jordan's direction towards strengthening ties with the Syrian side, within a framework that considers both security and economic aspects.
