Jordan affirms its support for the unity and sovereignty of Syria and highlights the enhancement of bilateral cooperation

The official spokesperson for the Jordanian government, Mohammad Momani, affirmed his country's steadfast support for the unity, sovereignty, and independence of Syrian territory, noting that the relations between the two countries are "very good." This came during his talk with the Jordanian Kingdom channel today, where he said: "Jordan is with the unity, sovereignty, and stability of Syria, and is doing everything it can to support that because the Jordanian position towards Syria is a national, Arab, and fraternal stance."
Momani explained that the humanitarian aid recently provided by Jordan to the Sweida governorate "was coordinated with the Syrian government authorities," emphasizing that his country is "concerned with stopping Syrian bloodshed and maintaining the security and stability of Syria through the correct and necessary channels to establish this matter."
The government spokesperson pointed to ongoing and increasing cooperation between Jordan and Syria through sectoral committees working in the fields of energy, trade, transportation, and social development, noting the constant consultations between the two sides to enhance this partnership. He also highlighted the noticeable growth in transit traffic between the two countries, reflecting the development of economic and social relations.
Momani addressed the outcomes of the tripartite meeting that brought together Jordan, Syria, and the United States last week, indicating that the most prominent results were "the emphasis on the importance of Syria's unity and sovereignty, exploring the best way to assist Syria in reconstruction, establishing security and stability, and addressing the security situations in the Syrian governorates, especially in the south, in a way that enhances security and stability and preserves Syrian blood." He also mentioned ongoing discussions regarding the water file between the two countries.
Jordan renewed its condemnation of Israeli interventions in Syria, describing them as "an infringement on the sovereignty of the Syrian state and a violation of international law." On another note, Momani pointed to a significant decrease in the rate of smuggling across the border crossings with Syria, as part of the new cooperative path that bilateral relations have witnessed since December 2024, which includes various fields, including combating smuggling.
It is worth mentioning that the Syrian authorities recently announced the thwarting of an attempt to smuggle more than 32,000 Captagon pills that were prepared for shipment to Saudi Arabia, as part of the joint efforts to combat this phenomenon.
