Japan Welcomes Ceasefire Agreement in Sweida, Calls for Swift Implementation of its Provisions

The spokesperson for the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kitemura Toshihiro, said in a statement published on the ministry's official website today: "Japan is deeply concerned about the deteriorating situation in Syria following the outbreak of violence in the southern region and the fighting, including Israeli strikes".
Toshihiro expressed Japan's appreciation for the efforts of the United States and other concerned countries to reach a solution to the events in Sweida, noting "that his country strongly urges all concerned parties to exercise maximum restraint, preserve the territorial integrity and national unity of Syria, and respect its independence and sovereignty".
He added: "Japan appreciates the participation of the Syrian government in the dialogue aimed at a comprehensive political solution and achieving national reconciliation, and calls on all concerned parties to continue playing constructive roles in achieving a peaceful and stable transition in Syria".
