Israel warns of possible attacks from the Syrian front and enhances its preparations

Amid the escalation of military operations in Gaza, Israeli security assessments point to the possibility of the northern front being targeted by Iran-backed elements in Syria, with warnings of a scenario resembling the October 7 attacks, according to Israeli sources.
The Hebrew website "Walla" reported that Iran-affiliated elements may attempt to penetrate the demilitarized zone in the Syrian Golan Heights to carry out operations against the Israeli army, including attacks with small trucks, while military leadership does not rule out targeting settlements and military convoys.
A senior Israeli officer confirmed: "We have long ceased defensive operations from the border line and shifted to defense from the Syrian depth. We have built a barrier to prevent vehicle passage, and we are prepared even for scenarios involving drones."
He noted that recent arrest operations in neighboring Syrian villages have helped gather intelligence on the infrastructure of armed militias, while the Military Intelligence Unit (Aman) and the Agents Operations Unit (504) have intensified their activities in the region.
As part of the preparations, the Israeli army conducted intensive exercises for the Northern Command and Division 210, involving special units and rapid intervention teams, to simulate possible attacks on border towns. The army is also training for directing airstrikes against any infiltrators.
The officer added: "We have reserve forces in the rear, eastern barriers to prevent vehicle crossings, in addition to walls, trenches, and missile lines. Even if they try to infiltrate with drones, we are prepared."
As a preventive measure, Israel started building a high concrete wall on the border with Syria yesterday to stop any flow of Druze, according to "Maariv" newspaper, along with military reinforcements to prevent repeated crossing attempts that have occurred three times recently.
