Israeli forces opened fire early Wednesday towards Palestinian gatherings waiting to receive humanitarian aid at the Nitzarim checkpoint dividing the Gaza Strip north and south. The operation resulted in the martyrdom of 4 Palestinians and the injury of 90 others, according to preliminary figures from medical sources in the sector. Eyewitnesses confirmed the presence of other martyrs whom medical teams could not reach due to the intensity of Israeli fire. Simultaneously, the Israeli army carried out a series of airstrikes on various areas in the sector, including Nusairat in central Gaza, where Palestinians were killed and others injured, in addition to intensifying shelling on Khan Yunis in the southern sector, with naval bombardment off the western coast of Khan Yunis. An Israeli airstrike on the tents of displaced persons in Khan Yunis resulted in the death of four Palestinians. These attacks come amid an escalating wave of violence, as around 60 Palestinians died yesterday, most of them while attempting to obtain food near the American distribution point in Nitzarim. The affected areas witness repeated incidents of shooting at civilians trying to access aid currently managed by the "Gaza Humanitarian Foundation," sparking strong criticism from the United Nations and international relief organizations, which described the aid distribution mechanism adopted two weeks ago as ineffective and posing a danger to civilians' lives. Amid this ongoing escalation, the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip worsens, with the population suffering from a suffocating siege preventing the entry of food and medicine, further increasing the suffering of civilians trying to secure the basic necessities of life amidst continuous shelling and clashes.
