Israel said it struck a radar facility near Tehran hours after the ceasefire began on Tuesday in response to missile launches by Iran, but clarified that it did not carry out further attacks after US President Donald Trump spoke to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Netanyahu's office also acknowledged the airstrike in a statement, following Trump's public expression of displeasure over Israel conducting attacks on Iran in the aftermath of reaching a ceasefire agreement but before it came into effect.

Trump, who announced the ceasefire overnight, criticized Israel's intention to carry out a military action in response to an alleged violation of the ceasefire by Iran.
