In a report published by the Israeli newspaper "Yedioth Ahronoth," military sources revealed a significant shift in the military situation on the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, six months after the Israeli army took control of the area without significant resistance. Israeli military presence in the Golan Heights has tripled during this period, with the establishment of nine new military sites inside Syrian territory. Israeli forces now move freely through the towns they have advanced to, making the area considered secure. On the other hand, the abandoned Syrian military sites, previously adorned with Syrian flags and pictures of Presidents Hafez al-Assad and his son Bashar, have become faded symbols of an old regime. Meanwhile, a senior officer in the Israeli army pointed out that the Assad regime is still struggling to consolidate its authority, as it does not control vast areas, including the coast dominated by Alawites, the northern areas controlled by Turkey and the Kurds, and the Bedouin areas in the southeast. He added that the border areas with Israel are not a priority for the regime at the moment. On another note, Israeli intelligence estimates that Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham has around 60,000 lightly armed fighters, with most of them moving in small trucks. Israel has initiated talks with Turkish representatives to coordinate military activities in Syria, as the Israeli army believes Turkey is interested in building a regular army affiliated with the regime, especially after the Israeli forces destroyed a large part of Assad's massive arsenal. However, Ankara remains hesitant due to financial costs. Amid these developments, security and logistical challenges are expected to continue on the Syrian border, with Israeli efforts ongoing to strengthen its military presence in the region.
