Israel announces the assassination of a prominent leader in the Popular Front during a raid in Lebanon

The Israeli army reported today, Friday, that it carried out an air raid in the Bekaa Valley area of Lebanon, resulting in the death of Muhammad Washah, known as "Abu Khalil," the head of the military security apparatus of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine in Syria.
The army stated in its statement that the operation was based on intelligence information from the Shin Bet, noting that Washah was responsible for enhancing cooperation between the Popular Front and other Palestinian organizations, in addition to his alliance with the Shiite axis, and he participated in carrying out military activities against Israeli targets.
The statement clarified that "Abu Khalil" took over the leadership of the military security department after the assassination of his predecessor, Nidal Abdul Aal, in Beirut in September 2024.
The army also described the Popular Front as a "terrorist organization" with a long history of operations against Israeli targets inside and outside the occupied territories, emphasizing continued cooperation with the Shin Bet to deter any threats.
