In a step that reflects the depth of the fraternal relations between Syria and Iraq, the Republic of Iraq launched a distinctive humanitarian campaign by offering 220,000 tons of wheat as a gift to the Syrian people, in a gesture of solidarity that confirms the historical ties between the two countries. This initiative, aimed at supporting food security in Syria, began with the arrival of the first batch of wheat through the Al-Qaim border crossing, where 39 trucks loaded with wheat reached Deir ez-Zor province. The shipment is currently being received at the site in preparation for distribution to the rest of the Syrian provinces. In a special statement to the Syrian Arab News Agency "SANA," Engineer Hassan Othman, the General Director of the General Establishment for Grains, expressed his deep gratitude to the fraternal Republic of Iraq for this generous gesture, emphasizing that this gift is not just a shipment of wheat but a real embodiment of enhancing the fraternal relations between the two peoples, and a result of rebuilding the common bonds between the two countries. Othman pointed out that the distribution of wheat is carried out according to a detailed study of the needs of each province, where the specialized teams of the General Establishment for Grains coordinated with the relevant authorities in Syria to develop a distribution plan that ensures delivering aid to the most needy areas, thus enhancing the principle of fairness in distribution and positively contributing to strengthening food security across the country. He explained that this initiative is not only an important humanitarian step but also a bright beginning to expand cooperation between Syria and Iraq in various fields, affirming that this gift represents a strong start to a new phase of bilateral cooperation between the two fraternal countries, hoping it will be the beginning of more initiatives that enhance the strategic relationship between the two peoples.
