Iraq.. Power outage in central and southern regions

The sources confirmed that the sudden stoppage of the Al-Hamidiyah station caused a malfunction in the electricity transmission network. The head of the Energy Committee in the Iraqi Parliament indicated that the outage did not affect the Kurdistan region of Iraq.
Although Iraq is a member of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and one of the largest oil producers in the world, it has struggled to provide energy to its citizens since the U.S. invasion of Iraq in 2003.
