Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi of Iran stated that Tehran will respond appropriately in the coming days to a proposal from the U.S. administration regarding the Iranian nuclear file "in line with the interests of the Islamic Republic," indicating that the date and location of the new round of negotiations with the United States have not been determined yet. Tehran and Washington have held five rounds of talks on the Iranian nuclear file since U.S. President Donald Trump returned to the White House in January. Araghchi mentioned in an interview with "Al-Nile News" aired today, Tuesday, commenting on his meeting on Monday in Cairo with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and the Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency Rafael Grossi, that the meeting was good, "and we presented our views. However, we were not comfortable with the recent report issued by Grossi as it was not fair. Grossi was alerted to this matter." In an interview with Egyptian state television, Araghchi added: "I told him that the International Atomic Energy Agency should not deviate from its technical and scientific path, and should not become a political institution or a tool for some countries and powers, and it should play its neutral role." He continued, saying: "Grossi reassured me that the agency is moving towards technical and scientific issues and does not allow political desires of some countries to enter its reports, but of course, there are still some questions in this regard." "Reuters" quoted a senior Iranian diplomat as saying on Monday that Tehran intends to reject the U.S. proposal, describing it as "unworkable" and not considering Iran's interests or including any easing of Washington's position on uranium enrichment. The senior diplomat mentioned that "Iran is preparing a negative response to the U.S. proposal, which can be interpreted as a rejection of the American offer." Araghchi mentioned that cooperation between Egypt and Iran will help achieve stability and de-escalation in the region and expressed his country's satisfaction with Egypt's support for the nuclear negotiations between Iran and the United States. Araghchi hinted at the possibility of the Houthis in Yemen halting their operations in the Red Sea if an agreement is reached to cease fire in Gaza.
