The Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed today, Wednesday, August 20, that his country has not yet reached the stage of "mature negotiations" with the United States, noting that the current conditions do not provide a sufficient basis to begin serious talks with the American side.
In his statements reported by the official Iranian news agency "IRNA", Araghchi also clarified that Iran has not yet reached a suitable ground to start effective negotiations with European countries, referring to the ongoing disagreements over several outstanding issues.
Regarding the relationship with the International Atomic Energy Agency, Araghchi emphasized that "completely severing ties with the agency is not possible," affirming Tehran's commitment to keeping communication lines open despite tensions, in order to maintain a minimum level of technical and oversight cooperation.
Araghchi's statements reflect the complexity of the Iranian diplomatic scene, amid escalating international pressures and the ongoing stalemate in several files, most notably the nuclear file and economic sanctions.
