The Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, said in a post on the "X" platform that any nuclear agreement with the United States would not be possible unless President Donald Trump stops using "indecent and unacceptable language" towards the Iranian Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.
Araghchi added: "Iranians are known for their resilience and unbeatable values, and we will not allow anyone to determine our fate. If Trump is sincere in his desire to make an agreement, he must respect our Supreme Leader and refrain from using threats and insults".
The minister pointed out that the Iranian people, who have faced challenges and demonstrated their strength against Israel and the United States, will not tolerate insults and threats, warning that any mistake could prompt Iran to reveal its full military capabilities, dispelling any illusions about its strength.
This response came after Trump's provocative statements yesterday, where he announced that he saved the Iranian leader from a "terrible and humiliating death," and prevented Israel from carrying out "the biggest attack" on Iran that would have caused massive destruction, as he put it.
Trump wrote in a post on "Truth Social": "I saved him from a terrible and humiliating death, and he was supposed to thank me".
Trump accused Khamenei of lying about his alleged victory in the war with Israel, affirming that he ordered Israel to recall planes that were heading for decisive strikes in Tehran, noting that these strikes would have killed many Iranians.
Araghchi concluded his post by saying: "Good will generates good will, and respect begets respect", expressing Iran's commitment to the principle of mutual respect as the basis for any dialogue.
