Before heading to the Italian capital, Rome, to participate in the fifth round of indirect talks with the American delegation regarding the nuclear file, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi sent a new message to the United States through his account on the "X" platform, affirming that reaching an agreement is not difficult if there is political will, but he emphasized that his country will not accept any agreement that does not guarantee its right to enrich uranium. Araghchi wrote: "No nuclear weapons mean an agreement, and no enrichment means no agreement," adding: "It is time to make a decision." In previous statements, Araghchi pointed out the continued fundamental differences between Tehran and Washington, warning that any American attempt to prevent Iran from enrichment will fail to reach a final agreement. However, he expressed his country's readiness to accept more inspections of its nuclear facilities, a move seen as an attempt to alleviate international concerns and provide a way out of the crisis. These statements come after four rounds of talks held since April 12 in Oman between delegations from Iran and the United States led by Araghchi and American envoy, Steve Witkoff, amid positive atmospheres despite ongoing tensions. On the other hand, the U.S. administration has stated that it does not accept allowing Iran to enrich even by 1%, while Tehran considers it a red line that cannot be crossed. U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo hinted at an alternative option of Iran importing enriched uranium from abroad, allowing strict control over quantities and proportions, which could serve as a middle ground in the ongoing negotiations trying to avoid the complete collapse of the nuclear agreement.
