Iranian state media announced today, Thursday, the launch of the first naval military exercises for Iran since the end of the 12-day war with Israel, during which naval ships fired cruise missiles at targets in the Gulf of Oman and the Indian Ocean, as part of an exercise named "Sustainable Power 1404".
Although such exercises are considered routine in Iran, their timing carries a strong message amid rising tensions, after Israel destroyed Iranian air defense systems and bombed nuclear facilities and other strategic sites during the recent war.
The exercises saw the use of drones over open waters, while the Iranian navy, which has about 18,000 personnel, avoided launching major attacks during the battles in June.
Iran confirmed after the end of the war its full readiness to face any potential Israeli attack in the future, as Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh stated to the "IRNA" agency yesterday, Wednesday, that the forces are equipped with new missiles ready for effective use against any "adventure" from the enemy.
In a related context, the Iranian Ministry of Defense confirmed on the occasion of Defense Industry Day that Iran's enemies are well aware that any miscalculation or adventure in the region will be met with a firm and strong response from the Iranian armed forces.
The "Tasnim" news agency reported the ministry as saying that the Iranian defense industry, despite four decades of comprehensive sanctions, has become a symbol of progress and power thanks to the efforts of experts and specialists, achieving notable accomplishments in the fields of missiles, armaments, space, and the design and production of modern military systems, which has transformed Iran from self-sufficiency to a major regional power center.
The statement added that the Iranian people witnessed the results of this power and capability during the recent war, and that the enemies are now certain that any new adventure will be met with a strong and severe response from the Iranian armed forces.
These exercises reflect Iran's steadfast vision in enhancing its defensive capabilities and asserting its prestige in the region, amid ongoing regional tensions and escalating conflicts.
