Iran's Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, affirmed in his recent statements that Iran will continue its uranium enrichment program regardless of the results of negotiations with the United States or European powers. Speaking through the "X" platform, Araghchi emphasized Iran's rights as a member state of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), stating that there is no scenario in which the country would relinquish these rights. Tehran is prepared to discuss a permanent agreement on its nuclear program, but uranium enrichment will continue whether an agreement is reached or not. Araghchi responded to American statements rejecting any uranium enrichment by Iran, calling these demands unrealistic. He stated that if Washington is serious about preventing Iran from possessing nuclear weapons, Iran is willing to cooperate, but unrealistic demands will not lead to agreements. US Secretary of State, Steve Wietkof, previously stated that Washington will not allow Iran to enrich uranium even to 1%, emphasizing this as a "red line" in negotiations. In response, Araghchi stated that Iran will not accept conditions that prevent it from enriching uranium, noting discrepancies between American public statements and undisclosed discussions. The Iranian Foreign Ministry had previously stated that Tehran is willing to negotiate on the level of uranium enrichment in exchange for lifting sanctions, but will not agree to halt the nuclear program, asserting its right to peaceful nuclear energy under international treaties. Negotiations between Iran and the United States, sponsored by Oman, continue with several rounds held in Muscat and Rome, with hopes of reaching satisfactory solutions for both parties.
