Iranian sources have reported that the instant messaging application "WhatsApp" has been banned again in Iran following Israeli airstrikes targeting Iranian territories. Alongside the WhatsApp ban, severe disruptions in internet service have been reported in multiple areas of Iran. These disruptions include: partial or complete internet outages, significantly slow browsing speeds, and difficulty accessing websites and applications. It is worth noting that this incident is not the first time Iranian authorities have resorted to banning social media and messaging platforms during times of tension. In September 2022, WhatsApp and Instagram were banned as part of government repression of the "Women, Life, Freedom" protests that erupted after the killing of Mahsa Amini. These platforms were among the few that remained available in Iran, making their ban significantly impact citizens' ability to communicate with the outside world.
