Iran Disables GPS System: Concerns Over Drone Attacks
The Iranian Minister of Communications Star Hashemi announced today, Wednesday, that there have been deliberate interruptions in the Global Positioning System ( GPS ) in some areas of the country, attributing the reason to potential security concerns related to the presence of unknown drones in the skies.

Hashemi stated in a statement broadcast by state television: "We have witnessed clear interruptions in GPS signals over the past hours, as a result of security measures taken by the relevant authorities after detecting indicators of the possible presence of drones in Iranian airspace."

The minister added that these precautionary measures have directly affected the quality of communication services and some operations that rely on navigation and positioning systems, noting that the current priority is to ensure cybersecurity and air security in light of emerging threats.

This development comes at a time when the region is experiencing escalating security tensions, amid concerns of a potential escalation using advanced technologies, including drones and electronic jamming.
