The iPhone SE series from Apple has always been considered the perfect choice for iOS enthusiasts looking for a premium experience at a reasonable price. With increasing leaks about the fourth generation of this beloved phone, the question arises about the feasibility of waiting for it.
Reports indicate that Apple intends to change the phone's design by ditching the thick bezels and the home button, adopting a new design resembling the iPhone 14, with a 6.1-inch flat-edge screen, replacing the mute button with a new toggle button. The screen technology is expected to shift from LCD to OLED, to deliver more vibrant colors and higher brightness, while maintaining a 60Hz refresh rate to keep a competitive price.
The phone is expected to run on the A18 processor, the same processor expected for the iPhone 16, ensuring strong performance and long-term update support, in addition to supporting the artificial intelligence features that distinguish Apple's phones this year. In terms of photography, the phone may feature a 48-megapixel camera instead of the traditional 12-megapixel sensor, to enhance the photography experience, while the front camera will remain at 12 megapixels with improvements in image processing.
Thanks to the new design, the phone may come with a larger battery similar to that in the iPhone 14, in addition to MagSafe support and a USB-C port. Apple is also working on developing its own 5G modem, and the success of this modem will be pivotal in comparison to its competitors.
As for the price, the previous generation of the iPhone SE started at $429, but with the new improvements, the price is expected to start from $499. If Apple manages to keep the price below $500, the phone may be an attractive option in the mid-range category, but any additional increase may put it in direct competition with older iPhone models or some powerful Android phones.
