The spokesman for the Syrian Ministry of Interior, Nour al-Din al-Baba, said today, Monday, that the Syrian Ministry of Interior carried out a qualitative operation in cooperation with the General Intelligence, targeting ISIS hideouts in Damascus and its countryside.

Al-Baba added: "Among the targeted hideouts was the den of the gang that attacked Mar Elias Church yesterday, and the details of the operation will be published through the official accounts of the Ministry of Interior".

SANA quoted a source from the General Intelligence today saying: "After a precise operation in less than 24 hours, we managed to target the terrorist attack on Mar Elias Church in the Dwaila area, by arresting the person responsible for the operation and a number of members of the criminal cell".

The source added: "The criminal cell is affiliated with ISIS and had been planning the terrorist operation for a while".

The source confirmed that a number of explosive belts, prepared explosive devices, and light weapons were seized with the members of the criminal cell.
