In Support of Ukraine.. European Countries Plan to Purchase American Weapons Worth One Billion Dollars

The purchases will be the first from American stocks under the "Priority Requirements List for Ukraine" mechanism launched last month by U.S. President Donald Trump and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
The Dutch government reported that it will purchase weapons worth 500 million euros, while the three Scandinavian countries will collectively buy weapons worth 500 million dollars. The four governments emphasized the necessity of supporting Ukraine, which has been facing increasing Russian military pressure for months.
In a post on the "X" platform, Dutch Defense Minister Robben Briklemans stated: "By resolutely supporting Ukraine, we increase the pressure on Russia (to push it) to negotiate".
The minister described the airstrikes carried out by Russia almost daily as a "real horror" and warned that Russia's advance into Ukrainian territory could pose a broader threat to Europe.
Briklemans pointed out that as "Russia's dominance over Ukraine increases, the danger to the Netherlands and our NATO allies also grows".
During a press conference to announce the Scandinavian initiative, Swedish Defense Minister Pal Jonsson said: "Ukraine is not only fighting for its security, but also for our security," and Sweden will contribute 275 million dollars.
In a statement, the Swedish government said: "The support will include air defense systems, including ammunition for the Patriot system, anti-tank systems, ammunition, and spare parts".
Washington will allow the delivery of weapons and military equipment from its stocks to Ukraine under the mechanism agreed upon with NATO.
